Kanchana Raman
President & CEO (Founder)

Kanchana Raman founded Avion Systems in 1996 and has built an organization with extensive knowledge of the telecommunications and technology industry.

With a focus on excellence in both customer and employee satisfaction, Kanchana has grown the organization at an enviable rate. With the constant need to adapt to evolving market forces, Kanchana has spear-headed the company's expansion globally from simple project staffing to innovative turnkey solutions in telecommunications and technology.

Kanchana was selected to represent three US delegations to S. Africa, S. America, UK. The mission involved meeting and advising minority and women entrepreneurs on growth within the region and globally. Kanchana chairs several board positions. The Georgia Women's Business Council representing Georgia on the National Leadership forum for WBENC, the Women’s Leadership Enterprise (WLE) , Ambassador for WeConnect to certify women entrepreneurs globally, Emory University Board serving as Ambassador for Emory’s innovation in Health care and advanced academics, and TiE Atlanta to foster Entrepreneurship . In 2010, Kanchana has been selected by AT&T to be part of a 25 member AT&T Women Entrepreneurs’ Forum. The forum will serve the emerging communications technology needs of U.S. businesses and help drive continued innovation and growth for AT&T.

Kanchana holds an MBA from Goizueta Business School, Emory University to augment her broad experience in telecommunications and technology, which spans over 18 years. Her continuing education focus has been in executive management, attending programs at Tuck Business School, Dartmouth, Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern.



Bharat Desai
VP Sales

Bharat Desai, VP Sales, brings over 25 years of telecom experience to Avion Systems. Before joining Avion, Bharat worked for Alcatel-Lucent and was responsible for selling products and services to AT&T and Verizon. In February 2009, he joined Avion as the Director of Sales. As the VP of Sales, Bharat currently serves clients such as AT&T and Alcatel-Lucent.

Bharat started his career with AT&T Bell Labs writing software for 5ESS switches. He has experience in software development, systems engineering, and technical consulting. After 15 years with AT&T Bell labs, Bharat moved into sales, successfully growing the business and developing relationships with key clients.

Bharat has a Masters in Engineering from University of Kentucky, a Masters in Computer Science from University of Kentucky and an MBA from University of Chicago.



Joseph Li
Vice President – RF/RAN

Joseph has been with Avion since June of 2006 and has served as Vice President since June 2012. He has led and grown RAN businesses exponentially in past years while strengthening customer relations in key accounts.

Joseph’s current responsibilities include Strategic Planning, Quality Management, Business Development, Customer Relation, Program Management, and Engineering Development. He has extensive program and people management experiences in multi-technologies and multi-vendors network planning, installation, integration, and optimization.

Joseph currently serves as Representative for ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

Joseph holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from California State University. His academic honors also include Phi Kappa Phi, Golden Key International, and Tau Beta Pi.



Jay Ram
VP and Corporate Controller

Jay has a multifaceted domestic and international experience in budgeting, costing, financial and management reporting and systems implementation. Jay joined Avion in October 2008 as a Controller and was promoted as VP and Corporate Controller in March 2013. In this role, he oversees Accounting, Finance, Legal and Human Resource functions.

Prior to joining Avion, Jay was the controller of a $30 billion oil and gas company in the Middle East. His background includes managing the consolidation and integration of the accounting processes and systems during the merger of two upstream and downstream companies.

Jay previously worked in a reputed regional accounting firm and in an oil refinery in India.

Jay has a BS in Accounting from the University of Madras. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant and a Fellow Chartered Accountant.
